Kingston’s DataTraveler 400 is a product focusing on the mobile office-goer. Security is one part of the concern and the other being able to carry data regularly and synchronizing it with their home PC. We have the 2GB version of the Data Traveler 400 here with us.

The design is sturdy and the drive opens up on an axis from its projection layer. The DT 400 isn’t just about looks. A thorough run through the benchmarks reveals it is also wuit the performer. In the sequential file transfer tests, we were able to write 100 MB files to the drive in 8 seconds and read off it in 3.6 seconds.

SiSoft Sandra recorded read speed of 33 MBps. Random access times were also very low at 0.4 seconds. Burst speeds of 35 MBps were also recorded in HDtach.

There are additional features for security in the drive. As with other manufactures, there’s a utility, which allows you ro create a secure partition. An additional utility called Migo Sync is also bundled on the drive. It allows you to select folders on the computers and sync data between multiple PCs. It isn’t just files and folders that are synchronised – it’s also data from mail clients and browsers. The application itself is actually quite extensive in features. The 2 GB DT 400 is priced at Rs. 950. In comparison standard 2 GB flash drives are available at gateway proces of around Rs. 500.
