Microsoft Releases Internet Explorer 8 RC1

Microsoft has released the Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate 1 and is now available for download. The release candidate version of Internet Explorer is available for Windows XP, Vista and Server 2008. Many sites had already reported that IE8 RC would be available this week. Internet Explorer 8 RC1 is available for download in 25 languages.

What is new in IE8 RC1;

  • Platform Complete: The technical community should expect the final IE8 release to behave as the Release Candidate does. The IE8 product is effectively complete and done.

Dell launched their new laptop in India

World’s one of the largest laptop manufacturer’s Dell have launched their new Mini 12 in India. The Mini 12 is ideal for web-savvy students and business executives who’re looking for a slim netbook.

It measures under 1.1-inch and is just 0.2 inch thicker than it’s major competitors MacBook Air and VooDoo Envy. The major thing to be noted is that this new laptop will run under Windows XP instead of  the famous Windows Vista. It is also hearing that Dell may offer the Ubuntu version of the Mini 12 in India.

The major features of this new Dell Mini 12 laptop is that it is provided with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530, and has a 533MHz FSB, a Intel US15W chipset, and a 1GB DDR2 533MHz and 80GB 4200RPM HDD. This new laptop will be available with 2 different series, first one with a 3 cell battery that will last for about 3 hours and the second one with a 6 cell battery that will last for about 6.5 hours.

This new laptop will also feature a WiFi (802.11b/g), a 1.3 megapixel webcam, and Bluetooth. As a special gift Dell will offer an online storage of 2 GB on Box.net to every Mini 12 buyer. Dell has not revealed anything about the price tag of this new laptop and it is expected to reach the Indian markets by the end of this month.

Google just added a new feature to Gmail chat after the  Video Chat, YouTube and Google Video previews. If you receive (or send) a link to a video in a chat message, you’ll see a preview of the video right in your chat window.

Click the preview, and the video will play right there. Just remember to say something every once in a while or your friends will probably catch on that you’re enjoying the dramatic chipmunk more than their conversation…

Volkswagen Scirocco R20T will reach 0-60 mph in just 6 seconds and have a top speed of about 155 mph.The new Scirocco R20T will be released in early 2010, and should be available at a price of about £25,000.

LG’s two brand new phones

LG, is one of the top mobile sellers in India. They are now going to launch two new handsets, which is named as GB110 and  GB106. Both the handsets are belonging to lower middle class which will be targeting the middle class people. Both LG handsets, GB110 and  GB106 are candybar phones with quite a few features.

It sports a 1.5 inch 65k color screen. FM Radio and a strong receiver. 1.5MB of memory. 400 hours of standby time and four hours of talk time on a single charge.

Features of LG GB110

LG GB110 sports the same features as GB106 except for the addition of a microSD card slot that supports up to 2GB of memory. The GB110 also adds a VGA camera to the features list. LG GB 110 is  slightly costlier among the two new LG handsets.

The phones which are  slated to reach the market very soon has not yet revealed any thing related to it’s pricing or availability.

Upcoming Gmail Features: Contact Deduplicator, Better Video Chat

CNet found from Gmail’s Product Manager Todd Jackson some of the Gmail features that will be released in the next months, but hopefully the best new things are still a secret.

The video chat plug-in for Gmail will show higher-quality videos and this is one of the reasons why Google chose not to use Flash. “Jackson says the plug-in route will be able to provide even higher-quality video as people’s connections improve, going to Video Graphics Array (640×480 pixels) all the way up to high definition.”

Gmail’s contact manager will add a feature that’s even in Hotmail, not to mention some business-oriented mail clients: removing duplicates. “Jackson says a de-duper is on the way and that contacts will have more of a presence both in your inbox and in conversations.”

Regarding email attachments, CNet suggests that Gmail could increase the already generous limit of 20 MB, but Gmail’s Product Manager hints at something else. “We know people’s file sizes are getting bigger. They want to share their files, keep them in the cloud, and not worry about which computer they’re on. Google wants to be solving these problems.”

Will Google release a more comprehensive solution for storing and sharing files, now that Gmail’s storage quote increases much slower, small projects like Google Notebook enter hibernation and Gmail starts to limit the way you use free products like Google Apps Standard Edition?
