Adding two new handsets on the ever expanding market of full-touchscreen phones, Samsung has launched the new S5600 and S5230. Both the handsets boast of chic design with slim and compact body.

The Samsung S5600 is mainly a multimedia phone and features a 2.8 inch QVGA full touch screen with the company’s patent TouchWiz user interface. One can carry out drag and drop operations for mobile widgets, place the favorite ones on the screen for a one-click access. S5600 also comes packed with an accelerometer and full internet browsing capability enabled by HSDPA 7.2 MBps. It comes integrated with Google Search, Gmail, photo browser and more. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0.

Additional features include “Gesture Lock” which is the function in the phone that lets the user unlock the phone and directly execute menu by drawing an alphabet on the screen. Each letter from A to Z can be assigned to each menu as per the user’s preference for this function.

It also has a 3 megapixel camera with advanced features like the Smile Shot and QVGA video recording capabilities at 15 fps. S5600 also features Shazam’s ‘Find Music’ service and FM radio. It also supports H.263, MPEG4, and WMV. All the multimedia content can be saved in the massive internal memory of the phone which is 80 MB plus support to a whopping 8 GB of external memory via microSDHC.

Next in line, the S5230, another multimedia centric device from Samsung boasts of 3.0-inch WQVGA full-touch screen with the TouchWiz user interface and a thickness of just 11.9 mm and Mobile Widgets. It comes with a cool feature of ‘Photo Contact’. This feature facilitates calling a contact by simply touching the image set for it.

Multimedia capabilities include 3 megapixel camera with video recording at 15 fps, multi-fromat and DNSe support for better sound performance, Shazam’s Find Music service, FM Radio and music recognition feature. Additional functions include Gesture Lock, handwriting recognition. It has an internal memory of 50 MB and support for upto 8 GB of expandable memory via microSDHC. It also has internet browsing capabilities and comes embedded with Google Search, Gmail and online widgets. It also has pre-installed games. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0.

Also, users can avail the advantage of soft QWERTY keyboard featuring in the phone.

Samsung 5600 will be available from the month of May in the European markets while the S5230 shall be expected in April in France and European countries. Their prices are yet to be announced.
