http://www.mozilla.org/projects/fennec/1.0b3/releasenotes/release_notes_banner.pngMozilla rolled out Fennec 1.0 Beta 3 for Nokia N800 and N810 Internet Tablets. Fennec is the mobile version of Firefox. The latest beta is target for the Maemo operating system based on Linux. (This blog previously carried an article on Maemo). The latest release addresses issues relating to performances, user interfaces and themes refresh. the interface is targeted to the future with the ability to support a large variety of devices and other orientations. It also try to address the issues of slow scrolling and panning. As usual every updates try to improve performance in general and this version too attempts to do the same. It also adds the ability to scroll iframes. Refreshing screens would also take less time with the new image rendering system. the version is rolled out for testers and a desktop emulator can also be downloaded.( Mac OS, Windows and Linux)

This release is available for the OS2008 (“Maemo”) software platforms that runs on the Nokia N810 Internet Tablets. If you’re viewing this on an N810, install Fennec.

Don’t have an N810? Don’t worry, you can still experiment with Fennec, provide feedback, write add-ons, and get involved by installing a version of Fennec for your desktop PC:

The idea behind releasing the package for PCs is to give people who don’t have a Nokia Internet Tablet the ability to localize, experiment and build add-ons. Note: The desktop version of Fennec is not a supported product.
