AMBIEROD-Inspired from the Ambi.

After designing a Bond car and thousands of other designer car for the style conscious, renowned car designer Dilip Chhabria of DC Designs officially unveiled his super luxury concept car dubbed Ambierod on January 10, 2008 at the Auto Expo in New Delhi. The Ambierod design takes its inspiration from the design of the oldest Ambassador. If it goes into production, it’s expected to come in Rs 4 crore (US $1 million) price range. Ambierod is the most expensive designed car ever been showcased at the Auto Expo.

The luxury car is to be equipped with an automated instrumental panel backed by satellite navigation system, rear vision camera, three LCD televisions, internet and videoconferencing-enabled flat bed and multi-coloured mood lighting. It’s being hyped as an intelligent, retro-futuristic car that has been designed from the iconic Ambassdor.

The looks of the concept roadster are said to be inspired by the American Hotrods and beyond.

Other than the Ambierod, DC Designs will also roll out a sports car under its own brand. The DC sports car range would be christened ‘S’ and will carry a price tag of Rs 25 lakh (US $63,635). The engines, transmission, suspension and the brake system would be sourced from various global manufacturers. The ‘S’ sports car will bear the DNA of a Ferrari or Lamborghini with comparable supercar performance and offer 0-100 kmph in 3.7 seconds. It looks like the custom-design vehicle market is experiencing a speedily escalating boom in India.


NASA’s X-48B World’s Largest Remote Controlled Plane

The X-48B looks like a huge bird perched atop three utility poles inside a massive NASA wind tunnel — a 21-foot-wingspan prototype of what may be the shape of some airplanes to come.

The X-48b an advanced concept, which is a fuel-efficient blended wing body or BWB. It’s called a blended wing body because it looks more like a modified triangular-shaped wing than the traditional aircraft, which is a tube and wing with a tail.

“The biggest difference between this aircraft and the traditional tube and wing aircraft is that this does not have a tail,” said Dan Vicroy, senior research engineer at NASA Langley. “The whole reason you have a tail is for stability and control. So what we want to do with this wind tunnel test is to look at how different multiple control surfaces can be used to control this particular vehicle.”

The team has produced two high-tech prototypes of the BWB, built to Boeing specifications by Cranfield Aerospace in England, for wind tunnel and flight-testing. The Air Force has designated the vehicles as the “X-48B” based on its interest in the design’s potential as a multi-role, long-range, high-capacity military aircraft.

One advantage Boeing engineers say the concept has over conventional aircract is that it’s about 30 percent more fuel efficient than an airplane of similar size that carries the same payload.

“We believe the BWB concept has the potential to cost effectively fill many roles required by the Air Force, such as tanking, weapons carriage, and command and control,” said Captain Scott Bjorge, AFRL’s X-48B program manager.

Industry says a blended wing body military aircraft could be in service within 10 to 15 years, if testing and program funding go well.

The nebula lies within our galaxy between 3,000 and 6,000 light years from Earth.

Nayanthara is Dileep’s heroine!

nayandec103001Dileep is going to play the Bodyguard directed by Siddique. And his heroine in the film is going to be south Indian cinema’s ‘numero uno’ heroine Nayanthara!

Nayan is going to make a comeback to Malayalalam with this Siddique entertainer in which she has equal footing with Dileep. Remember that Nayanthara’s last film was opposite Mammootty in that family entertainer Raapakal which was a huge hit. Recently she sizzled in a song appearance in the blockbuster Twenty 20.

The ‘pooja’ and the shoot of the film will start in Kottayam on December 12.

The release date of the film produced by Johnny Sagarika has been fixed for Easter- Vishu on March 28, 2009.

Siddique is the best commercial film director ever in Malayalam. He was the brain behind the Siddique Lal combination of the late 80′s and 90′s. No other director had such a string of hits- Ramoji Rao Speaking, In Harihar Nagar, Godfather, Kabuliwala, Vietnam Colony, Hitler, Friends, Chronic Bachelor.

Says Siddique: ” For the last two years I was sitting on the script of the film. It is a typical fun movie with lots of emotion and moves like a thriller. The film is being packaged as a mass family entertainer like all my earlier films.”

The film has Tamil actor Thyagarajan in a crucial role along with other leading actors in Malayalam. There are five songs tuned by Ousepachan, and camera is by S.Kumar.

It will be a start to finish movie that will be shot in approximately 50 days in Kottayam, Munnar Vagamon, and Muvatupuzha.

Vidya Balan remains fresh at night

“Vidya is an excellent mimic and she imitates other actors with utmost ease. She is the life of our night schedules. She is high in spirits even at four in the morning. Neither does she feel sleepy nor does she let anyone get bogged down by work pressure,” a unit member said.

“She always keeps smiling and cracking jokes,” he added.

Surya buys Audi Q7

suryaaudi3201Surya, to celebrate the success of his Vaaranam Aayiram, purchased an Ice Silver colored spanking new Audi Q7, before he left on his US vacation.

The Audi Q7 is a full-size luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) produced by German automaker Audi and was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in January 2006.

The Q7 is a luxurious SUV that leaves its rivals far behind and equipped with highly enhanced features and state of the art technology. The Q7 costs approximately Rs 70 lakhs on Indian roads.

The buzz is that Surya has purchased the Audi Q7 on the recommendation of Gautham Menon, who was one of the first person in Chennai city to drive around in a black Audi- A4 car. Surya’s Q7 has been picked from the Bangalore showroom of Audi, as it has a Karnataka registration.

Meanwhile Surya’s lucky heroine (Ghajani and Vel) Asin had informed us that she too has picked a brand new Phantom Black Audi Q7, which her dad brought her on her birthday in Mumbai.

14736160_twentynew31The mega blockbuster Twenty: 20 is releasing today (Nov 21) in 11 screens in UAE and three screens in US. Added to that it is having a big release in Tamilnadu- Chennai four and Coimbatore three screens.

Dileep who is distributing the film through his Grand Productions is a happy man. The film has taken a record whopping share of Rs 5.72 crore as distributor share from Kerala in two weeks from approximately 120 screens. The film is definitely the biggest blockbuster in the history of Malayalam films.

T:20 is now going to rock in Indian domestic and International market. It is for the first time a Malayalam film is opening in 11 screens in UAE and 4 screens in Chennai. Next week it is likely to open in 10 screens in Mumbai and suburbs through Shringar films.

Mohanlal bags Congress award

pakal2001Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 21 (IANS) Superstar Mohanlal, who has acted in over 250 films, will be honoured by the Congress party with the Samskara Sahithi for his contribution to Malayalam cinema.

Samskara Sahithi is an art and cultural forum of the Congress party.

Announcing the award state Congress president Ramesh Chennithala said that Mohanlal was selected by a three member jury for the “Panampally Prathibha Puraskaram”.

“The award carries a cash price of Rs.50,000 and a citation to be given at a function here Wednesday by Defence Minister A.K. Antony,” said Chennithala.

“Mohanlal was selected by us after looking into the overall contribution made by him to the Malayalam films. The jury felt that he was best suited for the award,” said jury chairman George Onakoor.

The Congress party has been trying to move close with Mohanlal ever since Mammootty was appointed chairman of Kairali TV channel since its inception in the late 90s. Kairali is supported by the state ruling Communist Party of India – Marxist.
