Nokia Battery Monitor is a brand new, official Symbian application which aims to give you a more accurite breakdown of your battery performance in your Symbian device.

Nokia Battery Monitor shows you the battery charge level with estimates of remaining usage time and charging time. It also provides statistics of your recent energy usage. Information can be viewed in full screen application or homescreen widget.

You can download Nokia Battery Monitor for free via Ovi Store here. If you decide to download and install, you will find that you can select where to install it on your Nokia device, so those of you with an N97 will be glad to hear you can indeed install this on mass memory.

Mozilla has just released the Fennec 2.0 Alpha for Nokia N900 and Android 2.0+ devices. Fennec is the code name for FirefoxFirefox mobile and includes the ability to install browser add-ons and sync with the desktop version of Firefox.

The new version comes with built-in support for Firefox Sync (what was known as Weave), so that tabs, passwords and bookmarks that you use on your desktop can be easily synced and transferred to your mobile device.

The alpha also includes support for pinch-to-zoom on AndroidAndroid, location-aware browsing, the ability to save a site as a PDF, and built-in site sharing via FacebookFacebook, TwitterTwitter or Google ReaderGoogle Reader.

Microsoft Silverlight for Symbian – Beta

Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform implementation of the .NET Framework for creating media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web on desktop computers and mobile phones. Silverlight beta contains an installer for Symbian^1 devices and developer tools for developing Silverlight applications on Nokia Symbian^1 (S60 5th Edition) mobile devices.

Nokia Beta Labs announced the public availability of Microsoft Silverlight for Symbian – Beta. This beta release is primarily focused towards the developer community so they can start building great experiences on mobile devices.

Nokia Handwriting Calculator

Well, this is something I find really promising: Nokia Handwriting Calculator allows you to calculate handwritten math expressions with a touch-screen Nokia device, and with a Windows PC. As such, the calculator really nice, but the really cool part is, in my opinion, the underlying handwriting recognition technology that enables us to create great new applications in the future.
