Asus Eee PC 1015PX netbook has now become available to purchase in the US. The cheapest prices for the Asus Eee PC 1015PX-PU17 and 1015PX-MU17 are $350 (at Newegg) and $320 (at Amazon) respectively.

The Asus Eee PC 1015PX also features a 250GB hard drive, with Windows 7 Starter pre-installed. The Asus Eee PC 1015PX actually comes in two different variants: the 1015PX-PU17, which comes with a 56W/h battery that provides up to 11 hours of run time and the 1015PX-MU17 with a 48W/h battery.

Asustek Computer Chairman Jerry Shen announced a new Android based tablet that will be called the Eee Pad. Shen says that his company will soon begin production on a tablet computer running the Android, and hopes to compete with Apple’s iPad.  ASUS will introduce the Eee Pad, at Computex 2010, a popular computer expo, in June.  They then have plans to make the Eee Pad available for purchase by the end of July.

There are no real spec sheet released yet, but we know the Eee Pad will have an Nvidia Tegra processor.  Also to compete with the iPad it will have some features that the iPad doesn’t like USB, integrated webcam, and Adobe Flash.  ASUS also has a marketing plan that will involve a carefully timed release of the Eee Pad that will not be affected by the current tablet PC and e-book reader markets.  Sources say that the new Eee Pad will cost around US$479-510.

This new set uses ASUS’ Glide Interface on top of the familiar Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. The fastest processor in the industry today, operating at 800MHz clock-speed – a speed which until some years ago existed only in computers, has also been equipped in the new P565. Also a stylus is  provided for those who prefer operating their phone without leaving finger stains and the users would also be offered a finger-friendly UI layer over the 2.8-inch VGA display.
