Fetch as Googlebot feature in Webmaster Tools now provides a way to submit new and updated URLs to Google for indexing. After you fetch a URL as Googlebot, if the fetch is successful, you’ll now see the option to submit that URL to Google index. When you submit a URL in this way Googlebot will crawl the URL, usually within a day. Google will then consider it for inclusion in its search index.

This new feature is very usefull in several situations, if you’ve just launched a new site, or added some key new pages, you can ask Googlebot to find and crawl them immediately rather than waiting for Googlebot to discover them naturally.

How to submit a URL to Google

First, use Diagnostics > Fetch As Googlebot to fetch the URL you want to submit to Google. If the URL is successfully fetched you’ll see a new “Submit to index” link appear next to the fetched URL.

Once you click “Submit to index” you’ll see a dialog box that allows you to choose whether you want to submit only the one URL, or that URL and all its linked pages.

But when you are intending to send a private message to a friend, you may look for a message button or link on their profile. But you will never find one. That doesn’t mean you can sent a message to your friend.

You can send a private message to any of your friends in Google + just by posting the message to you Stream but be careful to choose the friend from the box below you message. For a clear idea check out the following screenshot.

Also you can add a person to your share list by just mentioning them using ‘@’ before there name. See screenshot below.

Also you can send a private message to a list of friends or to any particular circle of friends. When you share the message it will be displayed in you stream.

Seeing the private message on your stream may have disturbed you. Anyway I didn’t find it cool. But relax, its just visible to you and the friend(s) you mention in the share list.

Anyhow this messaging system doesn’t work as well organized system. Its just like you updated something which is visible to the friends you mentioned. The cons of this system is you cannot recover the whole conversation history with any of you friends as we can do in Facebook or any messaging system. Also the recipient cannot replay to your message as it is actually not a message but an update. So what the recipient can do is comment on your update to respond.

Google has published a note about the latest Bom Sabado Virus attack happened on Orkut last saturday. The note says “we’ve contained the “Bom Sabado” virus and have identified the bug that allowed this and have fixed it.” So now its safe to head back to your favorite orkut profiles.

The Google has also given some tips for affected profiles even though they are working on restoring the affected profiles.

However, please remember that in any case, if you ever find any suspicious activities on your Orkut profile, please clear your cookies and cache and change your password immediately :

Also, avoid clicking any unknown/suspicious link while logged on to Orkut!

DO NOT OPEN YOUR ORKUT ACCOUNT TEMPORARILY AND IF YOU HAVE THEN IMMEDIATELY CLEAR COOKIES AND CACHE OF YOUR BROWSER IMMEDIATELY.

Orkut is affected by scraps titled Bom Sabado!. Heard it is a bug/virus and affecting profiles of many.

I suggest everyone to close your orkut tab for this time until this script get disabled from orkut. Bom Sabado (means Good Friday) is an orkut virus. The same virus has hit Orkut last Feb also. When the a user is affected by this virus it automatically send scraps to user’s friends titled Bom Sabado!

Bom Sabado is a cookie stealing virus. Those who are affected by this virus try to change their password as soon as possible and also clean your browser cookies.

Orkut officials havn’t given out any details of the scrap virus. Its safe to keep away from opening your orkut until orkut official give out the status of the attack.
