Yamaha FZ16 launched

The all new macho street fighter – Yamaha FZ 16 has been launched by Yamaha Motors,India last day.FZ16 is a taut, muscular adrenaline pumping machine. The bike is designed and engineered with the potential for active and even aggressive enjoyment for its riders, due to revolutionize the biking scene in the country . The bike boasts of a 153cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder high torque engine for active city riding. The single-axis balancer reduces vibration for more comfortable riding. A negative pressure type Φ26mm carburetor with TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) contributes to outstanding engine response on the FZ16. The placement of this model’s ‘MidShip Muffler’ is toward the centre of the machine to achieve good concentration of mass, exhaust efficiency and handling. While 5-speed transmission provides a smooth operational touch, the gear ratios are set to provide optimum performance and agility in city riding.

Running performance and handling of the bike is ensured by A Monocross suspension. At the same time it inhibits machine bottoming while riding with a tandem passenger and provides a very comfortable ride. The front suspension is 41 mm thick, besides good absorption of shocks from the road, this suspension also provides good damping characteristics during acceleration and braking.

FZ 16 also has India’s first “140/60-17″ size rear radial with a 60% aspect ratio contributes to bettergrip and handling stability. To achieve sufficient cooling effect, the cylinder head on the FZ16 engine is designed with especially large fins as well as a shroud (air intake cowl) to effectively direct airflow to the engine.

It is being offered in 3 colours – Lava Red, Midnight Black and Flaming Orange and is priced at Rs. 65,000 ex showroom (all India).I think this is the one that will rule the indian roads.

Google Chrome OS Screenshots

Although Google has not released any official versions, demos, or even screenshots of the upcoming Chrome OS, you can get a feel for what it might be like with the unofficial Chrome OS Linux project.

StartScreen

Built from SUSE Studios, the Chrome OS Linux is basically is a light install of SUSE Linux containing that latest developer build of Chrome for Linux that launches by default on startup.  You can either download either a virtual hard drive with Chrome OS installed to run it inside Virtual Box or VMware, or you can burn the Linux distro onto a disk and install it to your hard drive. The files are compressed in the .tar.gz format so you can use the free 7-Zip program to extract them on to the local drive.

Firstrun

When you start up Chrome OS Linux, the Google Chrome browser will automatically run and will ask you to choose whether to set Chrome as the default browser and to send anonymous data to Google about the browser. Everything should be automatically setup for you to quickly browse the web. Most websites will work fine though the Flash player is not supported in this version of the Google Chrome browser.

Twitter’s upcoming feature ‘Retweet’ Photos

Twitter’s plan to formally adopt the retweet as a feature, aka “Project Retweet,” has just become a lot more clear.

retweet

Today on Twitter’s API Announcement Group, the company outlined in greater detail what their version of the retweet will look like and how it will function. The retweet is already central to sharing content on Twitter, but confusion and the mess surrounding the syntax have prompted them to build this feature.

Oh, and to help explain the updates to the retweet feature, they’ve provided a mock-up of the latest design.

So what’s in store for the new retweet feature? As we explained in our detailed guide of Project Retweet, “retweet” will appear as an option at the end of any tweet. Clicking this will share that tweet in your Twitter stream, just like a normal retweet would. However, it will not come with the “RT @username” syntax we’ve come to recognize.

Instead, it will look like this:

example-retweet

Twitter also offered an apology to third party developers. Why, you ask? Because they changed functionality in the API. Before today, they were asking developers to do “internal book keeping” on whether a retweet had already come in multiple times. Now that work will be done on Twitter’s end. They also are limiting the number of shown retweets to 100, so that you don’t have a single tweet with 1500+ faces and username shown as retweeters.

Here’s Twitter’s explanation:

“One of the main confusions and criticisms about the retweet API was around what happens when a given tweet is retweeted multiple times. The explanation was that developers need to do their own retweet collapsing. If N people retweet a given tweet, you’d get N instances of that same tweet in the appropriate retweet timeline and the home timeline. You would then have to do your own internal book keeping about whether that tweet had already come in. If it hadn’t you’d display it for the first time. If it had you’d update the already displayed tweet.

Asking developers to collapse retweets in timelines is onerous, complicated and confusing. We’re not going to do it that way. We are going to add a resource that gives you all retweets for a given tweet. In timelines you will get only the first retweet. You can then request all retweets for that tweet at any time to get up to 100 retweets that have been created for it.”

The launch of Project Retweet is close at hand. Do you like the new look of retweets? Do you think this is a good or bad development? Let us know in the comments.
