Update : Orkut Recovered from Bom Sabado Virus, Its Safe To Use Orkut Now.

DO NOT OPEN YOUR ORKUT ACCOUNT TEMPORARILY AND IF YOU HAVE THEN IMMEDIATELY CLEAR COOKIES AND CACHE OF YOUR BROWSER IMMEDIATELY.

Orkut is affected by scraps titled Bom Sabado!. Heard it is a bug/virus and affecting profiles of many.

I suggest everyone to close your orkut tab for this time until this script get disabled from orkut. Bom Sabado (means Good Friday) is an orkut virus. The same virus has hit Orkut last Feb also. When the a user is affected by this virus it automatically send scraps to user’s friends titled Bom Sabado!

Bom Sabado is a cookie stealing virus. Those who are affected by this virus try to change their password as soon as possible and also clean your browser cookies.

Orkut officials havn’t given out any details of the scrap virus. Its safe to keep away from opening your orkut until orkut official give out the status of the attack.

Twitter Phishing Attack Spreading via Direct Message [WARNING]

A Twitter phishing attack is spreading rapidly today, attempting to obtain Twitter logins via Direct Messages. If you receive a message reading “lol, is this you”, and linking to a site called “bzpharma”, do not click the link.

Users who do click that link and enter their details are inadvertently letting spammers take over their accounts, which are then used to spam the same Direct Message to all their friends.

If you’re receiving these messages, your account is not compromised, but if you find you’re sending them, make sure to change your Twitter password immediately.

Ballooning batteries – Nokia Warns

Nokia has issued a warning regarding their battery, the BP-6M, which is fitted to several Nokia handsets, including the Nokia N73, 6280, N77, and 3250 XpressMusic handsets, to ballooning in size, and in some rare cases, expanding several times their original size, resulting in non fittment into the devices they are intended.

Nokia do confirm however, that there is nothing to be concerned about, and that if you find your BP-6M to have ballooned, and no longer fits into your N73 etc, you can take the battery, providing its a Genuine Nokia battery to your nearest Nokia Care Point, where it will be replaced FREE of charge.

Nokia isn’t saying how common this problem is, only that it affects a “limited number of batteries” and that the ballooning presents “no risk to health of safety”.

Lithium-ion batteries often gently swell up after a few years, and even unused batteries tend to enlarge after around three years, so those unused handsets you stuck in a drawer could be popping open as you read this. Not that there’s any risk from this – it just makes the batteries hard to fit into the charger, or mobile phone, and shouldn’t happen for a few years at least.
